Dr. Luohua Jiang is an Associate Professor of the Department of Epidemiology. She obtained her MD in Basic Medicine from Peking University Health Science Center and PhD in Biostatistics from UCLA, School of Public Health. She is a biostatistician with a unique combination of expertise in biostatistics and epidemiological research. Her primary research interest is to apply and develop appropriate statistical models to decipher complicated and massive data collected to solve challenging public health problems. In the past, she has been working in the field of translating evidence-based diabetes prevention and management interventions into large-scale public health practice among Native Americans. In addition, she has provided statistical leadership and/or consulting to multiple federally funded studies focusing on reducing health disparities by implementing and evaluating community-based chronic disease prevention interventions designed for underserved populations. Her current research focuses on conducting secondary data analyses of those intervention projects and electronic health record data using comparative effectiveness methods, multilevel models, and latent variable modeling.
