Seasons of beauty on the UC Irvine campus

Views from the UC Irvine campus reveal nearby snow-covered mountains in winter, the visual wonder that is springtime and the refreshing rain of an October day.  All contributing to the overall beauty that is part of the UC Irvine experience.

"Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence. Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance." — Yoko Ono, Japanese artist & musician

With over 1,500 acres of nature's beauty, the UC Irvine campus represents the the perfect picture of the Golden State  that is California and SoCal’s weather in particular. Aside from a handful of days when it rains, nothing ever disrupts your opportunity to take a leisurely jog through the campus' rolling hills, catch a few waves, take long walks on the sand along the Southern California shore or stroll through the 23-acre Aldrich Park preserved in the center of the campus. While the weather here is seemingly always bright and sunny, the temperature barely rises above 90 degrees and cool breezes that frequently blow off the Pacific Ocean are quite relaxing and balance out the heat from the sun. Most students show their appreciation for the frequent sun by the casual shorts and T-shirts that are worn around campus every day. If you are from the East or someplace where it snows a lot, you can leave most of your heavy wardrobe behind. The temperature drops in the evenings, and it can get a little chilly, but with winters that do not get colder than about 56 degrees, what exactly is “a little chilly?”
