About Epidemiology @ UCI
Epidemiology as a discipline is concerned with the distribution,
causation and control of disease across time and space in
human populations. The mission of the Department of Epidemiology at the UC Irvine School of Medicine is to study the etiology
(genetic and environmental) and control of chronic disease,
particularly cancer, through its surveillance, education,
research and service activities.
Faculty research interests include genetic and molecular epidemiology, cancer epidemiology, biostatistics, statistical genetics, environmental epidemiology, reproductive
epidemiology, nutritional epidemiology, infectious diseases, and occupational epidemiology.
The UCI Center for Cancer
Genetics Research and Prevention operates within the Department of Epidemiology.
