EPIDEM 290: Introduction to Biostatistics & Epidemiology
The medical world is changing as primary prevention
and evidence-based medicine assume increasing importance
at the level of both individual patients and public policy.
These changes are driven by the ever more rapid advances
in biomedical knowledge. In order to participate effectively
in this evolving medical world it is increasingly necessary
for physicians at all levels to understand the basics
of the design and analysis of scientific studies and to
be able to judge the validity and applicability of papers
published in scientific journals.
For UCI medical students, the Department of Epidemiology is pleased to provide modular experiences in epidemiology
and biostatistics in the second year.
Physicians are encouraged to participate in the Department of Epidemiology's Graduate Courses.
